にほんのおんがく
こにちは、
As part of my Japanese class, we have been encouraged to immerse ourselves in Japanese language content, such as anime, television, alongside music. So far, my exposure has mainly been the latter. I remember listening only a few Japanese language songs when I was younger (there was one song on Just Dance that I loved!). However, around when I entered High School, J-City Pop was becoming rather popular online, and, interested in almost anything Japan related, decided to give it a try.
From what I can remember, my earliest City Pop song was "Plastic Love" by たけうち まりや. Initially, I did not like it too much due to its slow rhythm, and left it alone for some time. However (I cannot remember why), I stumbled across the song sometime later in either 9th or 10th grade, and began to notice how well the instrumentation of the song created an amazing, filling sound (たけうち〜さんのこえではきれいです!)。
From there, I just fell through the rabbit hole, and have discovered a whole series of music from Japan, both old and new, that I enjoy thoroughly. Most of the artist that I have listened to include まつぶら みき、たけうち まりや、まつだ せいこ、and なかはら めいこ。I usually listen to them while traveling somewhere at night (I heard it helps with the ambiance), as well as while doing Japanese homework (I just finished listening to "Shyness Boy" by Anri as I complete this phrase!) I have shared links to some of them below, and I encourage you to try them as well!

ReplyDeleteI just started listening to the top charts in Japan while I do homework for input, so I've been getting interested in music. Your music recommendations are really good, and they span more than just today which is new to me!! Thank you for the recommendations
